The mission of the Special Collections Galleries is to illuminate diverse narratives that are regionally and historically representative to support and enhance discovery, accessibility, and integration of unique collection materials into the educational, research and administrative activities of the University and its broader communities.
After the long process to renovate the ground floor of the original 1932 Ina Dillard Russell Library building, creating the new Heritage Hall and Special Collections Galleries, we are left with a beautiful and functional space that will serve the University on multiple levels. The project began in 2017 and was completed and opened in November 2018. The scope of the project outlined and provided a new space for the President and University Advancement to perform outreach, fund-raising, and friend-raising; the Special Collection Galleries, which consists of four separate galleries; and an update of fixtures and furniture in the Pat Peterson Museum Education Room.
